As part of Tin's legacy, he hoped to leave his family with a strong connection to their Chinese/Hakka heritage
and past. One of the major projects he was working on was the creation of a Yap/Lee family ancestry tree so that the
'New world' generations would clearly have a link to the 'Old world' living relatives and ancestors. Due to his early
passing, Tin never finished the project...
However, his children and his nephews/niece have taken on the challenge
of completing this work and if relatives and friends (particularly in Malaysia & China) may be able to help
fill in the missing links, that would be a great help. Tin was able to trace back our direct ancestors for approximately
250 years (the last 8 generations ending in the 34 generation of Yaps) and also had an ancient family history book and knowledge
of a tombstone which apparently help trace our family back to about 20 generations. Unfortunately, both the family book
and the tombstone's whereabouts are currently unknown.
If you are interested and willing to help "fill in the blanks"
so to speak, please leave your name and email address in the guestbook (your name and the family tree will not being displayed
on this website for privacy reasons) so that we may contact you in the future. Names, relationships, locations of our
ancestors (both Yap and Lee) and the broader living relatives in Asia are the biggest opportunity areas.
